Website Copywriting Services

SEO copywriting for service businesses

Service businesses rely on trust and clarity. If your services are not clear and compelling, and you’re not inspiring trust in your website visitors from the outset, they’ll go to your competitors. That’s assuming they can find you online in the first place of course.

“Most importantly, not only is more business coming through the website, but it is also helping to provide the right type of customer – as they understand my business through reading my website, so I am attracting more of the right kind of customer. Thank you, Rachel!”

Elodie Stewart, Christchurch Foot Clinic

SEO website copywriting combines:

  • search visibility
  • strategic messaging
  • clear user journeys
  • A great website experience
  • Compelling copy that builds trust

Your website matters

A website is an investment in time and money – that should pay you dividends. Without clarity and focus in your messaging and a structured, disciplined approach to search-engine optimisation, you just have an expensive online business card. Your website should be driving organic traffic and conversions. It should be part of your online sales team. For that you need professional copy written by a website copywriter.

SEO helps you get found for what you do by the people who are searching for what you offer. Copy helps you convert those ideal visitors into customers.

Make your service business stand out for the right reasons

Service businesses need clear, concise, focused messaging. They need strategic copy written for humans with SEO built in from the start. Your copy needs to speak to your target audience and the search engines at the same time.

SEO copy is in the phrasing, messaging, tagging, links, calls to action, layout – it’s not just writing.

Your copy should lead your website design so copy, flow, user experience, and design are all aligned.

Using a copywriter for your website helps:

  • attract higher-quality organic traffic
  • reduce confusion and bounce rates
  • show your business as credible, trustworthy, and capable
  • increase conversions due to better-qualified traffic
  • support long-term SEO growth

“Rachel made a strong impact very quickly. She took the time to properly understand our business, our positioning, and the role the website needed to play in supporting long-term growth. Her work helped clarify key messages, tighten structure, and bring more focus to the content, which directly improved how clearly we could explain what we do and who we do it for.”

  • Writing – I do the writing, incorporating all the on-page SEO
  • First draft – when your first draft is ready we’ll book a call so you understand everything before you go through it yourself.
  • Revisions – we’ll refine the tone and messaging together. You get one full round of edits plus tweaks to the second draft.
  • Copy handover – when you’ve signed off your copy I’ll hand it over to your website designer and work with them on any necessary design tweaks.

FAQ

A: SEO copywriting is the process of writing website content to help your site rank in searches while clearly explaining your services and encouraging enquiries. It combines search intent, structure, and keywords with persuasive, human-centred writing so your website is easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to act on.

A: SEO website copywriting is best suited to service-based businesses who rely on trust, expertise, and clarity to win clients. If your website needs to explain what you do, who it’s for, and why someone should choose you over your competitors (and it should), professional website copy can make a significant difference.

A: Yes. AI tools can generate text, but it often lacks clarity, strategy, consistency, and a true understanding of your business or audience (despite what they might tell you). They sound generic and also only ‘guess’ at keywords. SEO copy written by a professional website copywriter provides nuance, trust, and context, all of which are increasingly important for search engines and AI tools as well as your visitors.

A: Ideally, website copy should be written before or alongside the design process. Clear copy helps shape page structure, hierarchy, and user flow and makes your website design more effective. Writing copy first or alongside design reduces revisions and avoids delays and problems caused by placeholder text, last-minute content changes, and the design not aligning with the copy.

A: Yes. I regularly collaborate with website designers and agencies to ensure copy and design work together. Collaboration from the outset leads to smoother projects, clearer layouts, and websites that perform better both visually and strategically. However, bringing a copywriter in at any point is better than not at all. If you don’t already have a website designer, I can recommend experts in WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace.

A: Timelines depend on the size of the website and the scope of work required. I will always arrange a timeline or deadline with you before I start work. The process involves discovery, research, writing, and review so timings will also depend on how quickly you come back to me at different key stages.
